This image was created in Painter Classic, a paint program that allows the artist to work with computer simulations of traditional media art tools. Painter models the behaviors of various brushes, pens, pastels, etc, on a variety of art papers. Using a good graphics tablet, the similarity of feel you get to using real art media is surprisingly effective. This image was created using pastel chalks on a fine grain paper. The image was inspired by a photograph from an old Sierra Club calendar. Minor color adjustment and retouch was done in Photoshop.
