Cold
Stream
This
image was created using a few different programs and techniques. Bryce
4 was used to model the objects and render the base image. The trees,
mountains, water, and the rock in the right foreground are Bryce objects.
After
rendering, I brought the image into Photoshop where I pushed the colors
from the Bryce rendering toward cooler shades. Having established the
color palette, I then moved the work into Painter Classic where I painted
a snowy layer on the Bryce rock in the right foreground. None of the rocks
on the left bank of the stream existed in the 3D rendering. I painted
the snowy rocks into the picture, the reflections of the snowy rocks on
the water, and the forest floor behind the rocks by hand. All the snow
was painted in 2D using Painter Classic and a digital tablet. The colors
for the snow were sampled from the sky for the most natural look.
